My android phone settings are fine, but I am not getting notifications, why?

Notification delivery depends on device settings. Please check for the following:

If you have any battery optimizer such as Greenify, Clean Master etc installed please whitelist MCB App in them
Please check the phone for MDM (mobile device management) software installed by your company, you would need to get MCB App in allowed apps.

Some phones may kill notifications if you force kill the app (reference), so request you to not do that. Please exit by pressing the back button.

If your mobile has an autostart functionality, please make sure that MCB App is switched on for autostart
For devices running Android version 6.0.1, check that your battery optimization is not preventing MCB App from sending you notifications. Go to Settings>Battery>Overflow menu>Battery Optimization and turn off the option for MCB App.

Different phone models have issues with notifications due to their internal settings. We have listed remedial steps some of the popular phones:

There is a helpful list by slack, please check it out: Android Notification Issues

If your phone model is not listed here please send us a mail at support@myclassboard.in with the make and operating system of your phone.

Check that you are on the latest version of the MCB App. Also, do a log out from the app and log in again. If you are on the latest version it could be due to phone related issue. We also recommend that you whitelist the MCB App by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Optimisation.

I did receive notifications but they are delayed. What is the reason for delay?

Normally push notifications do arrive quite quickly. But there are some rare cases where we’ve seen them get delayed:

Delays for notifications on Android Devices:

  1. Some home and commercial wifi routers will cause the device’s connection to Google’s FCM/GCM servers to be closed. The device later re-opens the connection and receives the delayed notifications. (Discussed here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-gcm/Y33c9ib54jY)
  2. Some Android devices can enter a low power mode when their battery is low that may cause slight delays in receiving notifications.

Delays for notifications on iOS devices:

  1. As with Android, some wifi routers will cause iOS notification delivery delays.
  2. Notifications may be delayed if “Restrict background data” is checked for the app, if Wifi-Optimization is turned on in the advanced settings, or if priority mode is enabled.

Why is the app showing no internet connection?

If you are seeing no internet connection consistently while other apps are working, please kill the app and switch off/on the internet connection and then relaunch. If the above step doesn’t resolve the issue, please switch off wifi and try connecting with mobile data. If you are able to connect it means that your ISP is caching some old address or security certificate which is causing this issue. This is temporary and will go away on its own in 24 hours.

The above steps should resolve the issue, but if you are still facing an issue, write a mail to us at support@myclassboard.in
